Hello Blog World,
My name is Alecia and I started this blog so that anyone interested can follow my family as we begin our journey to our son, "Jaxon", in China.
This all began just 2 weeks ago, when I saw a picture in my e-mail about a Deaf boy in China about to age out of the system. The moment I saw his face, I just knew that I had to help. At first I thought-
We'll call the agency and donate money- because OBVIOUSLY we can't adopt him. So that's what I did. I called up Great Wall China Adoptions and I said, "I don't know this boy, but I feel called to help. I'd like to donate money toward his adoption."
The lovely lady on the line said,"Thank you!"
And I, full of words, continued, "I would love to adopt him, but we don't have any paperwork prepared, I don't know where we'd get the money, and it's probably impossible anyways."
The lovely lady responded, "No, it's not. You still have time!"
So, of course, I had to break it to my husband that I wanted to adopt again -
You see, I'd already done this once before, about eight years ago. My dear husband, a very practical man, explained to me all the reasons why we should take our time and consider every aspect of what I was proposing....
So for 3 WHOLE DAYS I relentlessly pestered him; on the forth day he agreed. Poor guy.
Nine months later we were holding our beautiful daughter, Holiday, in our arms; our little Ethiopian princess. Never a day since have we said, "That was a bad choice."
Despite the ups, downs, and all the money involved, it was worth it to have her in our family.
Now, it's happening again. The Lord has called us to adopt this abandoned child, whom He loves, and bring Jaxon into our home. Honestly, I don't know how we will do it. We are on a tight schedule, with less than six months, to come up with $35,000.
They say we have to get him by September, before he ages out. So we're off, in a race to prepare our hearts and minds, our home, and our financial situation; in order to bring Jaxon HOME!
